Fr Sergius Duru at his 25years anniversary of priestly ordination
Founder Rev Fr Sergius Duru
Sergius Nnamdi Chukwugozie Duruosimere was born on 6th June, 1961 into the family of Mr. Boniface Ugochukwu Duruosimere of blessed memory and Mrs. Priscilla Urenwa Duruosimere of Uhu kindred, Umubu, Umuowa, Orlu – Imo State Nigeria.
He attended Bigard Memorial Seminary Enugu (Affiliate Institute of Pontifical Urban University Rome) and obtained Bachelors in Philosophy (1984) and Theology (1988).
Rev. Sergius Duru was ordained a Catholic priest on 25th September, 1988, feast day of St. Sergius in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Umuowa, Orlu Diocese.
He further studied at the Catholic University of Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium (1994-2001) where he obtained a Masters in Philosophy (1997) and Doctorate in Philosophy (2001).
Rev. Fr. Dr. Sergius Duru has worked in many parts of the world and Nigeria and has had fruitful pastoral engagements and experiences in Nigeria, USA, Belgium, London, Switzerland and Germany.
Rev. Fr. Sergius Nnamdi Duru celebrated his twenty-five years (Silver Jubilee) of priestly ordination in November, 2013, and one of the highlights of the anniversary was the official commissioning and inauguration of St. Mary’s Children and Community Hospital Umuowa.
He is presently at the Vatican under the Pontifical Missionary work of St. Peter the Apostle Congregation for the Evangelization of people.
