SMCCH CELEBRATES WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY JUNE 2023.

Our hospital joined the rest of the world to commemorate the 2023 World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) campaign themed “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often” , as officially designated by World Health Organization (WHO). In our hospital , the head of laboratory department , Ms Oby Nkemakolam , in her speech said, “…donating blood voluntarily must be encouraged and commended especially now many can not afford to pay for blood” One of our physicians , Dr Constantine Okeke added that , “ even though it is very important to donate blood and plasma, not everyone is eligible to donate, explaining that children, aged people, people with cancer, HIV and infectious diseases are exempted” The event witnessed a very massive number of people who came for voluntary blood donation to help the needy and indigent patients.
