WORLD MALARIA DAY – 25TH APRIL, 2022
World Malaria Day is celebrated annually on the 25th of April to focus global attention on malaria and its negative impact on families, communities, and society at large.
This year’s world malaria day theme is “HARNESS INNOVATION TO REDUCE THE MALARIA DISEASE BURDEN AND SAVE LIFE”.
The aim is to bring global attention to the efforts being made to bring an end to malaria and encourage actions to reduce suffering and deaths from this disease.
SMCCH joined the rest of the world to celebrate this event by creating awareness within and beyond the hospital on complications of this disease using all our social media handles and physical lectures.
During the sensitization briefing, Dr. Njika Cynthia a Medical Officer at St Mary’s Hospital noted that malaria is a preventable and treatable disease that continues to have a devastating impact on the health and livelihood of people around the world, and time is of the essence when detecting and treating malaria.
To commemorate this event and bring an end to malaria, especially among children and pregnant women, the hospital offered FREE Malaria tests and treatments to all patients who came into the hospital that day.
